About me

I am a classically trained violinist and qualified music educator with over a decade of teaching experience across Colombia, Chile, Scotland, and England. I hold an Undergraduate Degree in Music Education and a Master’s Degree in Adult Education for Social Change.

My performance career includes working as a violinist with professional orchestras in Colombia, such as the Orquesta Sinfónica de Caldas and the Filarmónica de Medellín. I have also performed as an invited musician with numerous ensembles and projects in England and Scotland, gaining extensive experience across a variety of musical contexts and styles.

As an educator, I combine this professional performance background with a deep commitment to accessible, high-quality teaching. My approach blends classical technique with a broad range of folk influences.

Alongside my teaching, I am actively involved in music projects that use the arts to foster community, promote social inclusion, and enhance wellbeing. Every lesson I deliver is designed to inspire, challenge, and equip my students to grow into confident, capable musicians.

Alejandra is the most patient, inspiring, encouraging violin teacher, not matter what age you are. I am a 67 year old who hasn’t picked up a violin since I was about 15, and with her help I was able to perform pieces far above my capability with an orchestra. I saw her kindness to young children having lessons too, while waiting for my lessons. She makes lessons enjoyable and fun for everyone. I would not hesitate to recommend her. Fantastic teacher!

Alejandra is an extremely talented violinist and a great instructor! She has incredible attention to detail, making sure you learn pieces with the correct intonation and technique. She also ensures you are learning pieces that you enjoy playing and that push you out of your comfort zone which I think was key to my progress over the year I had her as my teacher. She is also just a really lovely person – would definitely recommend.

Alegenthra is excellent Violin teacher and she has an amazing passion on Violin. I was 63 years old when I was joined about two years ago with miss Alegenthra’s violin class and that was the first time I was holding a Violin in my hand. She gave me all the courage and confidence in me and support me each and every classes throughout the lesson with great tolerance. Thank you so much miss Alegenthra.

Alejandra is a gifted violinist and a wonderful teacher. When I first started lessons with her a year ago, I had never even picked up a violin before. Yet, she built my confidence right away and guided me patiently through every step of the process. Thanks to her outstanding instruction and constant encouragement, I now truly love playing the violin. Alejandra has a keen eye for helping each student leverage their strengths while addressing their areas for improvement. She skilfully adapts her teaching methods to suit individual needs, ensuring everyone gets the precise guidance they require. Thank you, Alejandra for your continued efforts to support me in my endeavour!

Alejandra has been a fantastic violin teacher, and I highly recommend her lessons for both children and adult learners. As an adult learner who hadn’t studied music for many years, I was initially terrified to take on such a challenging instrument. However, her teaching style has truly helped me build confidence with the violin and overcome my fears. Thank you for making me fall in love with this beautiful instrument! 🙂

Alejandra is my first violin teacher. I had great experience with her. She applies unique approach to help achieving you what you want from your violin. She’s motivated me to play and I’ve had incredible progress with her. I had another teachers in other musical school but unfortunately no any other teacher were able to provide me the same experience. I’ll strongly recommend her for everyone who really looking to play violin.

She is patient, attentive, and a keen observer — quick to recognise both strengths and areas that need work. Her ability to tailor each lesson to fit my individual needs has made a huge difference in my progress. Thank you, Alejandra!— I’m so grateful for everything I’ve learned from you. Excellent violin lessons! Alejandra is a skilled, passionate and patient teacher who has taught me so much in the two years I’ve been learning the violin so far, and helped to build my confidence as an adult learner. I’d highly recommend these lessons to all.
